Good article in SI recently about Dick Fosbury, reminded me of a project I coordinated in 1988. Boise Cascade’s John Fery was on an Olympic fundraising committee and had his PR man, Andrew Drysdale, pull together a PSA to raise awareness. Andy called me (I was PR director at W.R. Drake & Company) and we came up with a concept that included Susie Patterson and Fosbury as spokespersons. So I called Foz and I called Echo Films — and we shot a pretty good :30 spot on a sunny day in Hailey. Then we all had dinner at the Elkhorn Resort — that was a good day.
In this photo with Fosbury is Tyler Nelson from Echo Films. I think it’s Tyler, or it’s Norman Nelson, or maybe it’s Beaver Nelson, I get confused. Those guys are still the best around. (I snapped this photo and few others that day, wish I would’ve gotten in a pic with Gold Medal flopper. Oh well.)
